Melissa Teich (frequently referred to as “Mrs. Beast”) is a professional athlete who competes in the IFBB Pro League, currently in the Women’s Bodybuilding (WBB) division. She is widely recognized for her dual career as an elite bodybuilder and a high-level powerlifter.
Competitive Career & Milestones
Early Sports Background: Melissa was a competitive swimmer in high school and moved into triathlons during college before transitioning to weightlifting.
Pro Status: She earned her IFBB Pro Card at the 2014 NPC USA National Championships in the Women’s Physique Division (WPD).
Division Transition After competing for years in the Physique division and becoming a two-time Olympian in that category, she transitioned to the Women’s Bodybuilding division in 2023 to better suit her frame and preference for building size.
2025 Successes: Melissa had a highly successful 2025 season, winning the 2025 Chicago Pro in the Women’s Bodybuilding division. She concluded the year with a Top 6th place finish in her WBB debut at the 2025 Mrs. Olympia.
Powerlifting Prowess: Alongside bodybuilding, she competes in powerlifting. In 2023, she recorded impressive lifts, including a 512 lb squat and a 303 lb bench press.

Beast Strong Powerhouse: Melissa is the co-owner of Beast Strong Powerhouse in Tucson, Arizona, a gym focused on performance and strength training.
Coaching: She is coached by her husband, Rafe Teich, who is also an IFBB Pro. She offers personalized posing coaching and fitness programs for women, specifically focusing on inspiring those over 40.
